A Survivor at Every Rink: Winnipeg Jets

Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. CancerCare Manitoba lung cancer survivors Glen Smith and Barb Gessler will represent Team Draft at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg. The survivors will be in attendance for the game between the Winnipeg Jets and visiting Washington Capitals. The Jets game marks the first Survivor game that Team Draft has attended in Canada.

The game will be a continuance of Team Draft’s “A Survivor at Every Rink” initiative, fueled by a relationship with NHL during their annual Hockey Fights Cancer month.

Team Draft’s goals are to create a unique experience for participating survivors and to raise awareness on a local and national level by using each game and each survivor’s story to weave a broader narrative about the state of lung cancer and the hope that now exists for those battling the disease.
